ELLE Shop Girl to Stylist!

Calling all shop girls and boys! Do you currently work in retail but dream of being a stylist? And, do you look through magazines and constantly feel like you have the potential to do that too? Well, if so, you're in luck! ELLE magazine could be making your sartorial dreams come true - with the launch of its new campaign 'ELLE Shop Girl to Stylist.' Last night, I joined ELLE and a handful of invited bloggers to get the low-down on the competition...
As part of ELLE magazine's 25th birthday celebrations, the British style bible is on the hunt for the super-talented shop girls and boys who have what it takes to become an international stylist. "This is a unique and exciting project which heroes the men and women who literally style the nation" explained the magazine's Editor-in-Chief, Lorraine Candy. "They deserve more credit for what they do, and we'll give them that in the pages of ELLE." The winner will not only get the chance to style an editorial for ELLE but will also be given an internship at the magazine - with expert mentoring from its fashion director, Anne Marie Curtis. Talking about the prize, Anne Marie said: "Our winner will get the big break they've always dreamed of. They'll have the profile and contacts they need to start their life as a fashion stylist."
So, if you think you dress the best and can out-style the most savvy of shoppers, then enter at: with an image of a high street look you've created - complete with a reference from your retailer. The competition closes on the 4th June when the ELLE judging panel will select 25 semi-finalists - who will all be asked to complete a styling assignment. The list will then be cut to just 10 finalists and the five ELLE mentors (Marissa Bourke, Anne Marie Curtis, Stacey Duguid, Natalie Wansbrough-Jones and Carrie Gorman) will take two finalists each and lead them through the final stages. The London final will take place within the first few weeks of June, where the contestants' intuitive sartorial skills will be put to the test with on-the-spot styling tasks, followed by a one-on-one interview with Lorraine Candy. The magazine's Editor-in-Chief will then select the most promising stylist and the winner will be announced in the October issue of ELLE. For anyone who's always dreamt of a career in fashion - this is too good an opportunity to miss! Grrr...if only I still worked at Topshop!
